Detail
A heavy-duty variation of our original iconic Jac-Shirt.
Introduced into our product line some fifty years ago, our original Jac-Shirt has served more outdoorsmen in a wider range of conditions than we can count. This heavy-duty variation on that icon is built with our thickest, warmest Mackinaw Wool for dependable warmth and protection in colder weather.
The Mackinaw Wool Jac-Shirt insulates like a coat and wears like a shirt. It’s made from the wool that has provided protection from cold, rainy weather for over a century. With a button-secure front and adjustable cuffs, it’s easy to adjust the warmth as conditions change. The flapped front pockets keep essentials close at hand and feature hidden buttons that won’t snag on equipment or gear.
Our 100% virgin wool transports moisture to the tips of its fibers for evaporation. This natural wicking process has yet to be duplicated by any fabric developed in laboratories, and is the reason wool has been the fabric of choice for protection in foul weather for centuries. Our Mackinaw Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water without feeling damp or clammy.
In crafting our Mackinaw Wool, only the longest and strongest fleece fibers are selected. They’re spun into dense, strong yarns that are woven in a dense twill pattern. This weave makes our Mackinaw Wool water- and wind-resistant while remaining highly breathable. It is also highly durable, often getting handed down to the next generation.
